The club has two clubnights each week during which doubles games are chosen from a ‘selector board’. Feather shuttles are used for clubnight. When there is no match, five courts are available for club use. The standard on clubnights ranges from lower league standard to senior county standard players.
Rolls-Royce BC has teams in both the Derby and Notts Leagues competing at a range of levels. Teams are chosen by the selection committee in September and matches take place between October and April.
The club holds intra-club tournaments annually which are handicapped to give everyone a chance of success!
There are a range of club social events arranged through the year, such as a darts night and 10-pin bowling.
Where and When
The club plays at the Bemrose School (Uttoxeter Old Rd, Derby, DE22 3HU) on a Friday and Sunday evening from 7pm until 10pm. Clubnight runs both nights until 9pm through July and August. There are periods in the year when the hall closes for exams.
The cost of club membership for 2016-2017 is £220/year. There are concessionary fees for junior members, full-time students and honourary members. The club is non-profit making and all fees are used for hall hire, shuttle purchase etc. Badminton England also charge each player a £16 affiliation fee to play in teams.
We offer a £5 per night 'pay-and-play' option to visitors. Visitors may attend three times and then need to decide whether to join as a full member or not at all. Money paid as a visitor fee is deducted from future membership fees for that year.
